Wirral and Cheshire - Cycling
The Wirral peninsula sits between the Dee Estuary and the River Mersey. Although close to the conurbations of Liverpool and Chester, much of Cheshire’s delightfully rural. A good area for some flat cycling!
We spend a day exploring the Wirral. The route largely covers old railway lines and quiet country lanes. Much of the route is coastal- we explore the coast up to New Brighton with views across the Mersey to Liverpool. The return route explores the inland areas of the peninsula.
Another day we go the other way from Chester towards Beeston Castle and optionally to the Peckforton Hills.
These rides are 35 and 32 miles respectively. In addition, a 19 mile ride on the last day provides an opportunity to visit Chester itself with its history, Roman wall, Cathedral and shops..
YHA Trafford Hall is a large Georgian House set in it’s own grounds outside Chester. It has limited self catering facilities so we aim to eat out at least one evening. Tea, coffee, milk, bread and spread will be provided.
The price is £85 per person for a bed in a 4 bedded ensuite room and £111 per person for a bed in a twin ensuite room. 12 places are reserved so please book them up through Corsizio if you can before considering offsite accommodation. Bookings close on Friday May 1st
