Advanced Communication Skills
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it’s taken place
– George Bernard Shaw
It’s not just about what you say – it’s about how well you truly listen and understand.
Our Communication Skills half-day workshop helps staff at every level build the listening, questioning, and awareness skills that transform everyday conversations. Effective communication is a two-way street: you’ll learn not only how to share your ideas clearly, but also how to receive messages without distortion from bias, assumptions, or distractions.
If you are enrolled for our 8-week team leader program, do not register for this Advanced Communication Skills course - we will cover the same content in the team leader program.
In this workshop you will:
- Uncover the “noise”: Learn to identify and overcome the barriers that distort messages, including common cognitive biases and other distractions.
- Listen to understand, not just respond – Build active listening skills that make others feel respected and valued.
- Ask effective questions – Use questioning techniques to clarify meaning, uncover needs, and strengthen relationships.
- Read beyond words – Recognise the role of non-verbal communication in building trust and connection.
- Sharpen your email writing skills – write clear emails that leave no room for misunderstanding and ensure that your emails get the attention they deserve.
- Communicate clearly in writing – Apply fundamental writing skills for messages, and reports that avoid confusion.
