🏍️ Experienced Rider Course Description

Already comfortable on a bike but need to nail your BHST? This intensive course combines focused training with your official assessment in one efficient session.

This 90-minute course is designed specifically for riders who can already handle a manual motorcycle confidently. You'll get 1 hour of intensive BHST familiarisation to understand the requirements and assessment criteria, followed by your official assessment. With a maximum of two students per session, you'll receive focused attention. We provide the bike, all safety gear, and expert instruction to help you succeed.

✅ Prerequisites Important:
To attend this course, you should have recent experience of riding a manual geared two-wheeled motorcycle fitted with a clutch, and be competent in the following:

• Starting and moving off
• Changing up and down gears smoothly
• Turning left and right with proper control
• Braking to a controlled stop

Please ensure you're comfortable with these skills before booking. If additional training is needed, you'll benefit from starting with our New Rider Course to build the right foundation first.

🎽 What's Provided Everything's provided: LAMS-approved motorcycle, helmet, jacket, gloves, and high-visibility vest in common sizes. If you're particularly small or large, please bring your own protective gear. Just bring yourself in long pants (no leggings), long-sleeved top, and sturdy covered shoes (no steel toe-capped boots).

⏱️ How Your Session Works The hour starts with equipment fitting and safety briefing, then we'll walk you through each of the four BHST stages - showing you exactly what's expected. If you're ready after the familiarisation, you'll move straight into your official test feeling confident and prepared.

🔄 If You Need More Practice If during the session we find you need more basic riding practice, you'll be redirected to our New Rider Course to develop those skills before re-booking this Experienced Rider session. This ensures you have the best chance of BHST success - please honestly assess your current abilities before booking.

🏆 Success! Pass your BHST and you'll receive your official NZTA competency certificate on the spot. Combined with passing the theory test at a licensing centre, this gets you your learner's motorcycle licence.
