Wilderness First Responder
Health insurance is required to participate in the program. This course also requires about 25 hours of pre-course work prior to the in-person portion.
This is an intensive five-day workshop that will teach students how to deal with medical emergencies when they are miles from help and dialing 911 is not an option. Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the ideal medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive, yet practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments.
Participants are expected to make their own lodging and meal reservations for this course. Lodging is available at the on-site Adirondak Loj and course participants receive a 20% discount. To make a reservation please call the Loj front desk at (518) 523-3441 ext. 1 and be sure to mention that you are a participant in the Wilderness First Responder course.
