Sunday Excursions
We are delighted to offer opportunities to explore Philadelphia's wide range of cultural institutions on Sunday, March 8!
Three institutions are offering Sunday programming for conference attendees:
1-hour guided tour by Barnes Foundation Picasso Research Fellow Naina Saligram, designed around conference themes
Time: 10-11am and 11:15am-12:15pm
Cost: $40/person for guided tour
Max. number of attendees: up to 10
If there is low sign-up for one or both times, we may need to consolidate the tours into a single time slot.
Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts (University of Pennsylvania)
Exhibition of Center's rare books and special manuscripts, tailored to themes in French history.
Light breakfast spread offered.
Time: 11am-1pm (drop-in)
Cost: Free
Max. number of attendees: Can accommodate up to 40/50 people over a two-hour stretch. Family friendly!
The Rosenbach Museum & Library
Les Bijoux de Rosenbach, a private tour of the Library's most fascinating French-language holdings, including volumes from Buffon's Histoire naturelle, the manuscript of René Maran's Batouala, and much more.
Time: 10:30am-12:00pm
Cost: $30/person for guided tour
Max. number of attendees: 15
You must be a member of the Society for French Historical Studies to sign up for these excursions. Members may register for one guest (i.e. non-member) or in the case of the Kislak Center, which is a family-friendly excursion, three guests.
While registration for these events closes on Feb. 23, we will continue to allow registration (provided space remains) after this point in time.
