Sessions 3 & 4 of the Multiplication & Division Content Clinic (Series 1) are designed to broaden and deepen educators’ key content knowledge by exploring the trajectory of students' understanding of multiplication & division, as well as approaches to teaching these topics in the classroom. Session 3 explores the knowledge foundational to students' successful use of multiplication and division, the mathematical concepts that progress from these skills, and how students will be required to show mastery in assessment situations. Session 4 pulls all of the previous information together to look at ways in which learning multiplication and division can be cognitively supported in the classroom. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the key ideas in using and teaching multiplication and division, learn how the content interacts with students' cognitive development, and acquire new perspectives informed by neuroscience.
