Days 1 & 2 of the Mathematical Reasoning Content Clinic Series are designed to broaden and deepen participants’ mathematical understanding of the reasoning processes foundational to problem solving and mathematical discussion. The sessions build understanding of the reasoning skills progression from grades Pre-K to 8, allowing participants to improve their anticipation of students’ needs and better address gaps. Participants will expand their understanding of why mathematical relationships exist and uncover strategies for deepening students’ understanding. These sessions aim to bolster knowledge of the key ideas in reasoning, build the use of reasoning to promote productive math talk, inform educators of how these processes interact with students' cognitive development, and allow participants to acquire new perspectives informed by neuroscience.
