**TOTAL BEGINNER AND CONTINUING BEGINNER UKULELE AND VOICE, Tk - 3rd**

Course Prerequisite: None

For Total Beginners, in this course you will learn music basics for singing, strumming rhythms, accompanying songs on ukulele and leading hands-on singing, songwriting and strumming with your students. This class is for teachers, paras and specialists with little to no musical experience, or no experience playing a ukulele. We teach in Open C tuning for ease and accessibility of playing, and we go slowly, and help you develop essential musical awareness and skills. You will learn to sing, strum and play easy songs for learning with three chords in our special Open Tuning on ukulele. This course does not cover guitar.

If you already completed a Total Beginner Ukulele course, this course will be is a natural next step for people who want more time practicing Strum & Sing basics before adding more chords and strums in Open C tuning. It’s a way to get better at what you learned in Total Beginner, and to go farther.

This course will be a good review or refresh of Total Beginner and will also give you more chord changes and strums. You’ll add the Am chord to your repertoire. You’ll learn practical songs for your classroom teaching, utilize primary GITC song leadership techniques, and compose some simple Lyrics for Learning using familiar melodies. You’ll also get a chance to collaborate with other teachers to create songs for boosting student creativity, literacy skills, memory, and social-emotional awareness.

Note: If you already play guitar or ukulele in standard tuning, this course can be immensely helpful in learning to teach the instrument to children. You’ll learn a developmental approach to successful instruction, even with children in early childhood education.

All classes in this series will be taught from 4-5:00pm PT / 5-6:00pm MT / 6-7:00pm CT / 7-8:00pm ET.
