Hiring and Managing Contractors
Utilizing outside contractors is a reality for many projects, yet not everyone who hires them fully understands their health and safety responsibilities. This session will focus on navigating "need to know" legislation related to hiring and managing contractors who are performing work within a facility. The focus will be on the steps involved in hiring outside contractors from the pre-contract planning stage to awarding the contract. The session will then switch gears and highlight the process of managing on-site contractors, by ensuring the learner is made aware of different steps involved from the required roles and responsibilities of the parties involved, to conducting the exit interview to determine if there will be consideration for future re-hiring of the contractor.
