Racialized experiences, history and trauma live in our bodies and nervous systems. In the face of such discomfort, white people often find themselves shutting down, freezing in guilt or shame, denying the lived experience of people of color, engaging in silent complicity or projecting rage onto bodies of color. It is vital we understand that this happens in spite of good intentions, and white people can learn to increase their capacity by engaging in intentional emotional and somatic work. This cohort will be facilitated by psychologist Dr. Kristin Davisson* and transformational coach Libbey Paul.
This workshop series is for those who have already participated in the RCD foundational course on whiteness and anti-racism and is a white affinity space to push accountability. Together, we will work to build capacity through and in this work, practice recognizing somatic alarms, pause and be present in our bodies, and connect more deeply with our community.
- Session 1: Safety and Trust/Building Container for Group Work
- Session 2: Essential Self and Capacity Building
- Session 3: More on Essential Self/Move into Conflict and Repair
- Session 4: Healthy Aggression
- Session 5: Facing Horror and Dissociation
- Session 6: Putting it Together/Embodied Accountability
