Program Description:

Science Explorers: A Journey Through Nature and Engineering

Our Integrated Science program offers a playful, immersive introduction to the wonders of science and engineering for young learners in kindergarten through second grade. Using a three-year rotating curriculum, students explore life science, earth science, physical science, and engineering design in developmentally appropriate ways that spark curiosity and build foundational STEM skills.

Each year introduces new themes and investigations, so students can enroll for multiple years without repeating content. Lessons include hands-on experiments, nature exploration, and creative problem-solving, ensuring students at all developmental stages feel engaged and challenged. This interactive series of classes offers students an immersive and hands-on approach to learning about various scientific principles and engineering concepts. From the mysteries of magnets to the intricate workings of ecosystems, students engage in exploration, experimentation, and creative problem-solving, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Throughout this course, students delve into diverse topics such as energy, light and shadows, plant growth, animal behavior, ecosystems, the water cycle, landforms, transportation engineering, renewable energy, and environmental engineering. Each session is carefully crafted to captivate students’ curiosity and inspire a passion for scientific discovery.

NGSS Alignment
This program is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and emphasizes science and engineering practices such as asking questions, making observations, planning and carrying out investigations, analyzing results, and designing solutions. Students build foundational understanding through crosscutting concepts like patterns, cause and effect, and structure and function, while developing early disciplinary core ideas in life, earth, and physical sciences.

Through a blend of interactive activities, art projects, and extension activities, students develop critical thinking skills, teamwork abilities, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Whether designing playgrounds infused with science or investigating the environmental impact of renewable energy sources, students emerge from this course empowered to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and engage meaningfully with scientific ideas.

Off-Site Program Note
Because this course is offered at an off-site location, a parent or guardian is required to remain on site for the duration of the class. This helps ensure a supportive and safe learning environment for all students while allowing the class to run smoothly within shared community spaces. *Please note that this course is subject to cancellation or postponement based on enrollment numbers.
