Orange County Birds of Prey
Bird of Prey Center
The Orange County Bird of Prey Center is a state- and federally-licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of raptors; each year approximately 200-300 injured or orphaned birds of prey pass through OCBPC’s facility—owls, hawks, eagles, falcons, and more—all undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. In 2025, the organization released close to 150 rehabilitated raptors back into the wild, where they belong. Wild birds that are not eligible for release can become Education Ambassadors to work in OCBPC’s education and outreach programming, which engaged over 18,000 people last year. As a primarily volunteer-run organization, we strongly believe that education is the best long-term solution to prevent and mitigate many of the challenges that too frequently result in birds coming to us. We believe that raptors play an integral role in the balance of nature. All of our outreach strives to help participants understand the roles these animals play in the world, the challenges they face, and what we all can do to help their plight.
