CCCO - Empathy Calls - 2026
Weekly Empathy Call
As humans, we thrive by sharing the deeply-held truths we each hold inside, big and small, profound and mundane. Empathetic listening supports us to share by providing a sense of safety that we will be received with dignity and care. We use the principles and practices of Nonviolent Communication as a foundation for presence when listening and responding to each other.
In one hour’s time, your Empathy Call Host will invite you to be seen and heard in community with a centering process, followed by brief individual check-ins into the group space. A 20-25 minute empathetic listening practice in pairs follows, before a brief group check out.
Further detail and information about empathetic listening are in this welcome packet,

Offered Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays at noon Eastern Time
*Empathy Calls are peer support and are not a substitute for medical or therapeutic counseling.
Meet your Hosts
Susanna Warren—Host
My first experience with Nonviolent Communication more than twenty years ago transformed every aspect of my life in powerful and awe‑inspiring ways. The profound healing and growth made possible through deep, empathic listening became the spark that inspired the creation of the Empathy Calls during a time when uncertainty was at an all‑time high with the onset of COVID.
Since then, it has been a true joy to be part of an empathic community that nurtures meaningful connection—both with those we see regularly and with those who are newly joining us on this path.
As a certified Trainer and Assessor for the Center for Nonviolent Communication, I share NVC and support Certification Candidates throughout North America and beyond, helping cultivate the skills and spirit that allow compassion to flourish in our world.
Diane Diller—Host
For 20 years I've been passionate about helping people connect compassionately with themselves and each other, using the principles and practices of Nonviolent Communication.
It's deeply fulfilling to me to host the Friday Empathy Group call, to provide a place for us to gather with this intent.
As a trainer certified with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, I share NVC in the Dayton, Ohio area and beyond via occasional classes and dialogue facilitation.
Turiya Gearhart—Host
I'm Turiya (like "Teresa" without the ‘s’). I've been interested in, and so many times awed at, the power of empathy to spark meaningful connection among people. As a child, I loved diving for sunken merchant ships, a shared adventure with my friends. The joy of discovery of buried treasure enthralled us as we brought to the surface what had been lost. Imagine my present day joy in co-creating a community where together we gently invite what might be shy within us....that with support can be polished into our power. It is a privilege for me to share the exploration of our humanness and discover the deeper, more expansive heart that emerges in connection.
Sam Hoyt—Host
I found my way to CCCO, NVC, and the Empathy Call at a time when I was actively seeking language to help me understand and accept the very different emotional experiences coming from my heart and my head. The call has helped me learn to love all of my parts—even when they seem contradictory. After two years of regular participation, I am thankful to have been asked to host as a way to give back and express my gratitude for the original creators of this sacred space.

Lara—Co-Host
A few years ago as part of a mid-life career change to focus on connection and contribution, I began practicing Nonviolent Communication. The warm welcome of these beautiful empathy calls have supported me through the waves of change during this transition.
In addition to my commitment to speak and live the language of Nonviolent Communication, I continue to study the intersection of neuroscience and NVC with Sarah Peyton and practice Resonant Healing as a certified practitioner.
I’m committed to growing and learning in community, and am grateful I can help support as a co-host.
