Cold Joinery, 2.5 hours, 125
Working with non-ferrous metals such as copper and sterling silver involves more than cutting, forming, and soldering. One of the most under appreciated tools is cold joinery, the use of rivets and screws to bind together pieces of metal and add decorative touches on an otherwise finished piece, whether they be copper, silver, exotic metals such as titanium, niobium, or aluminum.
This class will teach you how to make ,two different types of rivets and how to make a screw using a tap and die
The class is limited to two students. Instruction will be by the “discuss, demo, do” approach. Classes are conducted in an air conditioned classroom.
Materials fee, $35.00 (paid directly to the instructor) includes metal (copper and sterling silver), as well as studio supplies.
