A Sober Adult LEGO Design Salon at Pharatree Nelson

Brick & Presence is a monthly, consciously sober creative gathering for adults who enjoy design, imagination, and hands-on making.

Hosted at Pharatree Learning Centre – Nelson, these evenings offer a calm, focused LEGO studio environment inspired by contemporary LEGO design culture and publications such as BRICKA Magazine.

Each month, participants are guided through a gentle theme or creative constraint — architectural, abstract, or conceptual — exploring LEGO as a serious design medium rather than a toy. The emphasis is on process, presence, and thoughtful making, not speed or competition.

While the salon meets monthly, BRICKA Magazine is published quarterly and is woven into the program as a slower, seasonal source of inspiration rather than a required component of each session.

This is not a children’s LEGO night, and not a party atmosphere. It is a quiet, adult space for creativity, reflection, and community.

What to Expect

• A guided, alcohol-free creative evening
• Warm tea and non-alcoholic drinks
• Curated LEGO materials and neutral baseplates
• A monthly design prompt

Participation is limited to keep the space intimate and relaxed.

About the Sober Environment

This is a consciously sober event. Pharatree intentionally offers alcohol-free creative spaces that support focus, accessibility, and genuine connection. All adults are welcome — no recovery framing, just a shared commitment to presence.

About BRICKA Magazine

BRICKA Magazine is a quarterly publication celebrating adult LEGO builders, design-forward construction, and creative LEGO culture. A limited number of copies may be available for purchase during select salon evenings as a take-home companion to the themes explored. Magazine purchase is optional and not required to participate.
