Spring Lower Owens River Outing
For nymph fishing gear check out the upcoming Lower Owens on the Water Class class page on Corsizio- it has a great list to get you going.
For small stream fishing (like the gorge) you can either wet wade or use hip or pants length waders. A shorter, 6'6" to 7'6", 2 to 4 weight rod with a floating line and clicker reel works fine. For flies, have some #14 elk hair caddis and #16 parachute Adams on hand. For dry dropper rigging have some #16 bead head pheasant tails and some #18 zebra midges.
Don't forget your fishing license!
Lodging:
Many of us camp at Pleasant Valley Reservoir. But Browns Town and Millpond camp grounds are also available, Millpond has showeres but is farther from the water. Bishop also has many hotels and motels from the Motel 6 at about $100 a night to Wayfinder (formerly Creekside Inn) which starts at over $200 a night, and a lot in between. Check reviews and other with other club members who have visited Bishop often, some of the hotels can get a bit funky in town.
Dinner Friday night:
We will meet for dinner at 6:00pm Friday March 27th at Taqueria Las Palmas in Bishop. We meet in the private back room; the food is great!
