Turner as Inspiration (Group 1)

Join me for a tour of the Henry Vaughan Bequest, a exquisite collection of light-filled J.M.W Turner (1775-1851) watercolours, bequeathed by English collector Henry Vaughan in 1900 and only on display each January as stipulated. There is so much to enjoy a close up look at the technique of Turner painting style as well as he fascinating life as a less than typical Victorian artist. The paintings on display are also beautiful records of the beauty and power of nature which fits in nicely with my upcoming National Gallery art appreciation course, The Sublime and the Beautiful: Romanticism and Irish Art.
