Overview

The 2021 Basic Life Support (BLS) blended course provides prehospital and healthcare professionals the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adult, child, and infant patients. Consistent with the American Red Cross Focused Updates and Guidelines 2020, BLS is the foundational CPR/AED program typically required for prehospital and healthcare professionals. Through the use of lecture, skills, demonstration, practice and case-based emergency response scenarios with a focus on team-based response, BLS builds the key critical thinking problem solving and team dynamic skills that are needed to drive better patient outcomes. Upon successful completion of the course learners will receive a 2-year Basic Life Support digital certificate with anytime anywhere access to certificate and training history.

Continuing Education

The American Red Cross’s Training Services portfolio prepares healthcare professionals to respond when moments matter. Our approach to resuscitation and critical care education is focused on the interprofessional healthcare team, which includes nurses, physicians, and paramedics to name a few. Interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) is when members from two or more professions learn with, from, and about each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes (Joint Accreditation, 2024).

The Red Cross Continuing Education Program is proud to provide accredited CE credit for these programs based on up-to-date evidence-based guidelines to optimize outcomes of patients.

To receive continuing education credit in Resuscitation and Critical Care courses, please Claim CE within 45 days of course completion.
