Low Light Pistol
This class is a course on the safe and effective use of white light and handguns in the context of a home defender or patrol officer. The use of handheld lights will be the primary focus, however weapon mounted lights will be addressed and their use covered for those students who choose to bring one.
Topics covered;
Maximizing the ability to shoot one handed and coordinate handgun use with a handheld light
Use of weapon mounted lights and their correct context
Maximizing the ability to identify a potential threat, and make rapid and effective hits on target
Gear selection
Cornering, use of cover, and basic tactics
Required equipment;
A safe and reliable semi auto handgun, a safe and secure holster, at least three magazines
(if a WML is used the holster MUST accommodate the pistol with the light mounted)
(Note, the student's holster should not be a soft leather or nylon holster that collapses and disallows holstering repeatedly, hybrid holsters such as Crossbreed, and Serpa holsters, are very strongly discouraged, contact me if there are questions)
A quality handheld light (mandatory, demo samples of recommended lights will be available to try in class)
250 rounds of reliable target/range ammunition, 10 rounds of your chosen defensive ammunition
Range safety gear/eye protection/hearing protection (clear eye protection is needed for the low light shooting portion), ball cap
