The Bright Spot

The Bright Spot Homeschool Coop provides social and enrichment experiences for children ages 5-7. The program focuses on community building, creativity, and themed interdisciplinary units incorporating art, dance, drama, music, science, social studies, math, and literacy. This program is intended as an enhancement to (not a replacement for) core curriculum. Themed units span the course of several weeks and are guided by student interest in topics and activities they want to explore, try out, or learn more about.

The coop will be facilitated and designed by Kelly Stoops (AKA Ms. Kelly). Ms. Kelly has many years of experience in education and homeschooling with a degree in elementary education. She takes great joy in working with children and engaging them in experiences that help them find delight in getting to know each other, learn and explore, be creative, and try out something new.

The Bright Spot Homeschool Coop...

• does not require family participation (although families are always welcome)
• is for children ages 5-7. Coop kids must be able to toilet independently and not be a safety risk to themselves or others (elopement, aggression, etc.).
• takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am-1pm at The Bright Spot
• includes 6 field trips. The Bright Spot budgets $20 per coop student per field trip. When the cost of a particular trip exceeds the allocated budget, families will be notified in advance to contribute the additional cost. Financial assistance is available if needed. All families are welcome to attend on field trip days or drop off/pick up at the field trip location. Field trips are typically scheduled during our regular coop hours (9:00–1:00). However, exact start and end times may vary slightly based on the destination’s availability. Families will be notified in advance of any schedule adjustments for field trip days.
• provides all needed supplies and materials. Coop kids just need to bring a lunch, morning snack, afternoon snack, and water bottle each day.
• is capped at 10 kids to provide the opportunity to build a close knit community.
• if we have to miss days for weather, illness, or any other circumstances that prevent us from meeting, a refund of $25 a day will be issued to families.
• does not provide refunds for missed days for illness, etc. for coop families due to budgeting for supplies/materials, meeting space, field trips, staff, guest instructors, etc.

Fees:

The Bright Spot Homeschool Coop requires a $150 deposit. This is non-refundable and secures your spot for the 2026-2027 session.

Tuition for August 2026-May 2027 is $3,000. You can pay this in full ($3,000 due August 1) or monthly ($300 due the 1st of each month August-May). At registration, you will specify the payment plan you have selected and will be invoiced accordingly. Payments may be made by check, credit card, or Venmo.

A sibling discount of $50 per sibling is available per sibling. After registering the first child, enter the coupon code 2628COOPSIBS for each additional child.

By registering online, paying the deposit, and selecting your payment plan, you are agreeing to the terms specified here in regards to policies and payments.

Schedule:

We will have an orientation/open house on August 14 from 10:30am-12:00pm where everyone can come meet each other, see the place, and get an overview of what we will be doing at coop. We will then meet Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am-1pm August 19-May 28 (except for fall break, Thanksgiving break, winter break, and spring break). Here is a link to the calendar for 2026-2027.

9:30-10:00 Morning Meeting

10:00-10:15 Snack and Play

10:15-11:00 Activity 1

11:00-11:30 Lunch and Play

11:30-12:30 Activity 2

12:30-1:00 Snack and Play

Activity times are where we do interdisciplinary activities related to our interdisciplinary theme.
