Wavelength Canine

Scent Work is based on the work of detection dogs such as drug and bomb detection. Sport organizations use specific essential oils and set up searches in a variety of environments, and teams must work together to find the hidden scent. 

Scent Work is an inclusive activity - it’s fun and engaging for everyone. Searching allows dogs to use their strongest natural sense, and delivers fulfillment through mental and physical exercise. This activity is also a great way to strengthen trust between you and your dog. Whether you are interested in competition or just want to have fun, this is an activity for everyone. 

This class will introduce your dog to an odor, strengthen alert responses, and teach you handling skills to develop better communication. 

Dogs Learn:

• Odor discrimination
• Critical thinking skills
• Task focus around distractions

Humans Learn:

• To read their dog and recognize natural signals 
• Search handling skills
• Basic game set up and training techniques

Group classes with Wavelength Canine blend structure and socialization, with the goal of making training an enjoyable experience. Classes offer a mix of guided exercises, 1:1 assistance, and community encouragement from other responsible dog owners to help you build lasting skills for life.

Group classes are open to all dog breeds and sizes, but dogs are required to be fully immunized. If your dog isn’t ready for a group, please consider private lessons to get started!
