Description
The Japanese term “shibori” describes a variety of techniques for compressing and securing cloth to create beautiful dye resist patterns. The class will focus on stitched shibori techniques, and students will dye the fabric in an indigo vat. We will discuss the use of different needles and types/weights of thread and fabric, knots for beginning and end of stitch rows, use of buffers, flat stitching, stitching on a fold, and combining stitching with binding techniques.
Prerequisites for participants:
No experience required.
