DIY State Collages
In this creative, hands-on class with artist Shelly Goodrich, you’ll create a collage in the shape of your favorite state. Using a variety of papers, images, and textures, you’ll fill your state outline with meaningful details—anything from colors and patterns to photos, magazine clippings, or other visual elements that reflect places, memories, or interests you love.
You’re welcome to use provided materials or bring your own photos or paper scraps to make your piece extra personal. Once complete, your collage will be framed, creating a finished piece of art that’s perfect for home décor or gifting.
This project is approachable for all skill levels and is a fun way to celebrate place, creativity, and storytelling through art.
Activities are made possible in part by the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
We value inclusion and access for all participants. This class is wheelchair accessible and we are pleased to provide additional reasonable accommodations. Please contact Alexianna at alexi@traditionalartstoday.org to make a reasonable accommodation request. Requests must be submitted 2 weeks in advance of class.
