ADK Cycle Outing will be held June 14–19, 2026 and will again be based at North Country Community College (NCCC) campus at the Saints Suites, 140 Payeville Ln, Saranac Lake, NY. The Saints Suites are located directly adjacent to the Adirondack Rail Trail, which is now completed from Lake Placid to Tupper Lake.

ADK Cycle Outing is a bicycle touring event with day trips ranging from 20 to 55 miles. Some trips focus on cycling, while others allow time for relaxation and sightseeing.

Cycle Outing 2026 will feature both rail trail and road rides. We will generally offer 3 trips per day: short, medium, and long. We will take the Rail Trail east to Lake Placid. The western section from Saranac Lake to Tupper Lake is 23 miles, and there are multiple ride options on this section. Popular road routes include the Ice Cream Loop, the Red Tavern Road Loop, the Franklin Falls Loop, and the Little Tupper Lake/Sabattis Bog Loop.  

The Adirondack Rail Trail is made of compacted crushed stone, with small sections of asphalt. The trail is designed for hybrid or gravel bikes but tested well with road bikes. Class 1 e-bikes (pedal-assist) are allowed, but cannot ride on adjacent DEC Wild Forest trails. Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes are not allowed.

We will have 3 trip leaders this year: Tom Ortmeyer, Greg Smith, and Julie Leonelli. Each leader will provide the necessary trip route information prior to the ride. Participants may alternatively choose to head out on their own. Participants are responsible for providing bicycles, helmets (required on all rides), and basic maintenance gear.  For those trips not starting at NCCC, we will drive to the starting point. 

Each suite at NCCC has 4 private bedrooms, a shared living room, a shared bathroom, and a kitchenette equipped with a microwave and minifridge. Each bedroom has a single twin bed. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi and parking. The entire campus, including all rooms, is 100% smoke, vape, and tobacco-free.

Rates are $475 for ADK members and $495 for non-members. This price does not include meals. On Sunday, June 14, we will have a welcome Happy Hour starting at 5 p.m. On Monday, we will hold our outing picnic, weather permitting.
