Handgun Performance Lab

Handgun Performance Lab is a two-day deep dive into the practical handgun skills that matter.

This is the full-weekend version of the Code 7 handgun training format: clear instruction, live demos, coached reps, and skills applied immediately on the range.

Over two days, you’ll work through the major pieces of practical handgun performance—drawing, movement, target transitions, malfunctions, and dynamic drills—then start layering those skills together so they actually hold up when the pace and complexity increase.

Everything is taught, demonstrated, coached, and applied on the range—so you’re not just seeing it, you’re doing it.

Build the skills. Run the gun.

What we'll cover:

  • Apply core handgun skills across changing distances, angles, positions, and drills that build in complexity over the weekend.
  • Draw from the holster (IWB or OWB) with purpose and consistency
  • Move, shoot, and transition through changing shooting problems
  • Clear common malfunctions and get the gun working again
  • Pull these skills together in fun, challenging drills that push your ability

How This Class Is Run:

  • Everything is taught on the range
  • Every concept is demonstrated before students run it
  • Students receive direct coaching and feedback throughout the course
  • Instruction is clear, direct, and immediately useful
  • Skills are built progressively, then applied in more complex drills

What Students Are Saying:

“I was challenged in the most positive ways. I learned so much and came away with plenty to work on. Chad demonstrated each exercise to ensure we had a clear understanding of how to execute the task.”
—Katrina
“Great training. Personalized explanations.”
—Rodney
“The best teaching I’ve ever had in any shooting discipline and worth every penny.”
—Josh
“Chad’s technical knowledge is on a next level.”
—Mike

Who is this course for?

This class is for students who want practical handgun training that goes well beyond standing still and shooting a single target

  • Students who want structured coaching and a clear path to build practical handgun skills
  • Shooters who want to move past static range drills and apply their skills through movement, transitions, and changing drills
  • Returning Code 7 Tactical students who want a full weekend to build, apply, and connect the skills from previous training

You should already be able to safely handle your firearm, load it, and follow basic range safety practices—this is not a first-time introduction to handling a gun.

If you can do that, we’ll build from there.

“I absolutely would recommend a Code 7 class whether someone is a beginner shooter, intermediate shooter, or advanced shooter.”
—Code 7 Tactical Student

Class Size & Expectations:

  • Class size is capped to allow for individual coaching
  • You’ll be expected to follow safety protocols at all times

Gear List:

  • A reliable, modern semi-automatic handgun (no revolvers)
  • Minimum 800 rounds of ammunition
  • A secure IWB or OWB holster (no Serpa-style holsters)
  • Sturdy belt
  • 3 magazines minimum
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe shoes
  • Water, snacks, sunscreen, and a hat—we’ll be outside both days

Ready to Train?

This class is built to move your training forward in a serious way.

Over two days, you’ll build skills, apply them in more complex shooting problems, and get direct feedback on what is actually happening with your shooting.

You’ll run challenging drills that push your ability, reveal what needs work, and give you a clearer path for training after class.

Students receive detailed class notes after the workshop, so you have a reference for what was covered and a way to continue building on the material.

You’ll leave knowing what improved, what needs work, and where to take your training next.
