Intrauterine Counselling and Removal
Course Overview
This CPD accredited half-day practical course is designed for healthcare professionals working in Primary Care who wish to develop the knowledge and skills required to safely support counselling, checking, and removal of intrauterine contraception (IUC), including both intrauterine devices (IUD) and intrauterine systems (IUS).
The course provides a structured, evidence-based overview of IUC methods, including mechanisms of action, effectiveness, and clinical considerations for ongoing management. Particular emphasis is placed on patient counselling, routine IUC checks, and safe removal techniques. The training supports clinicians in developing the confidence to safely manage IUC care within their professional scope of practice and local governance frameworks.
Delivered by experienced clinicians and Faculty Registered Trainers, the course focuses on practical application, clinical safety, and patient-centred contraceptive care.
This course focuses on IUC counselling, checking, and removal. It does not provide training in IUC insertion.

The course provides a structured overview of:
Overview of intrauterine contraception methods (IUD and IUS)
