Cold Joinery: Solderless Connections

Cutting, forming, and soldering are the standard basis of metalsmithing. Sometimes materials need to be connected without heat; enamels, plastics, woods and metals such as titanium or niobium. In these cases, cold joinery comes to the rescue. Cold joinery uses rivets and screws to connect pieces of materials together either out of necessity or just to add a decorative touch.

This class will teach you how to make and set:

• Rivets
• Screws using Tap and Dies
• Set a stone using a "dimple" setting

Perquisites: basic sawing and filing skills

Materials fee, $35.00 (paid to the instructor) this covers metals, a stone, and other consumables.
