Combatives at the Lake

A Collaborative Integrated Training Retreat

July 17-19, 2026 in Double Springs, Alabama

What is Combatives at the Lake?

Combatives at the Lake is a three-day immersive training retreat focused on integrated self-defense in a weapons-based world.

This is not a traditional seminar.

Students and instructors train, eat, and live on-site — removing logistical friction and maximizing coaching density, mat time, and real-world application.

  • This environment is designed to:
  • Stress-test your current skill set
  • Expose gaps across disciplines
  • Improve performance under pressure
  • Build durable, transferable capability

It is collaborative. It is immersive. It is work.

Training Focus

Rather than siloed disciplines, this retreat emphasizes integration — how skills overlap, conflict, and succeed under pressure.

Training blocks typically include:

Armed & Unarmed Combatives

  • Closing distance, clinch work, limb control
  • Managing weapon access and entanglement

Defensive Firearms Application

  • Safety and accountability
  • Retention shooting
  • Performance-based pistolcraft

Decision-Making & Survival Mindset

  • Situational awareness
  • Environmental problem-solving
  • Adaptive movement

Tactical Medicine

  • Massive hemorrhage control
  • Tourniquets, pressure dressings, wound packing

Regardless of whether your background is firearms, martial arts, or general preparedness, this event connects the dots.

Instructor & Coaching Model

Combatives at the Lake operates on a collaborative instructor model.

  • Some coaches teach formal blocks.
  • Others participate primarily as high-level training partners.
  • Many do both.
