In this six week drawing class, students build strong foundational skills while exploring creative expression. Artists learn to draw from basic shapes, develop form and shading, experiment with color, and explore perspective, gesture drawing, and optical illusions. Through guided practice with Local Artist Natalie Brockman, students will grow their confidence, sharpen their observation skills, and develop a deeper understanding of how lines, light, and form bring drawings to life.
Natalie has painted murals in the central Kentucky area for over 18 years, and has a BA in Fine Art from the University of Kentucky with a focus on Drawing. To see more of her work you can visit her website at www.nataliebrockman.com.
Here is a glimpse of the course content and what’s we will explore in this class:
Week 1) Free-Hand; drawing from basic shapes; Form Construction and Chiaroscuro Shading
Week 2) Shading with Color Pencils; Implied Texture
Week 3) One Point Perspective; Gesture Drawing
Week 4) Op Art: Line; Imagination Drawings
Week 5) Room in 1 Point Perspective; Celtic Knot Patterns
Week 6) Op Art: Color Pencils; Scrambled
Registration for this class includes an art kit full of the essentials every artist needs for the art of drawing. Students can keep this kit so they can continue to practice the art of drawing at home between classes and beyond.
