Stitch Drawing on Your Sewing Machine by Saskia Wassing
Course Overview: Learn how to use a basic domestic sewing machine as a creative, free stitching drawing tool. Through sampling and hands-on experimentation, participants will explore mark making, texture, imagery and unique decorative possibilities using a range of techniques and approaches. These samples can then be developed further, with the option to complete a two or three-dimensional project of your choice. Ideas for sourcing materials and developing individual work will be discussed, with plenty of inspiration and support provided throughout. Emphasis is placed on developing skills and ideas at your own pace and level in a supportive, encouraging environment. Participants will leave with the confidence and skills to continue working independently, along with fresh ideas to propel their own creative explorations in stitch.
Participants are required to bring their own sewing machine in good working order, along with an embroidery or darning foot.
Skill Level: This class is suitable for those with some sewing machine experience who would like to further develop their skills in a creative way.
