Book Art: Mixed Media, Painting & Binding with Holly Dean
Course Overview: One of the most rewarding parts of this course is transforming your books into works of art, inside and out. Participants will create expressive book covers using acrylic paints and mediums, collage, dimensional elements, stamps and stencils, markers, pencils and image transfers. At least three different book structures with varied bindings will be created in a supportive and nurturing environment. Students will learn coptic, long stitch and accordion bookbinding techniques, along with essential bookbinding terms and how to make a collapsible bookbinding cradle to take home. This course welcomes curious beginners and experienced artists and book artists interested in exploring bookbinding as both a functional and artistic practice.
