Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Class – 8 Hour Course
The Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Class is a comprehensive, eight-hour course designed to educate responsible firearm owners on the laws, rules, and legal responsibilities associated with carrying a concealed firearm in the State of Idaho. This course meets Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry training requirements and emphasizes legal knowledge, accountability, and informed decision-making.
A key component of this course includes one hour of Idaho firearms law instruction taught by Post Falls Police Department command staff, providing students with real-world insight into how concealed carry laws are interpreted and enforced by law enforcement professionals.
Course Topics Include:
- Idaho concealed carry laws and statutes
- Use of force and deadly force legal standards
- Where you can and cannot legally carry a concealed firearm
- Interaction with law enforcement while carrying concealed
- Legal responsibilities of armed citizens
- Traveling with a concealed firearm (in-state and interstate considerations)
- Criminal and civil liability considerations
- Judgment, decision-making, and potential consequences of firearm use
Live Fire Qualification:
Students will complete a 98-round live course of fire, demonstrating safe firearm handling, marksmanship fundamentals, and compliance with course standards. Live fire is conducted under direct instructor supervision in a controlled range environment.
Important Clarification:
⚠️ This is NOT a self-defense or tactical shooting class.
This course does not teach defensive gunfighting techniques, scenario-based training, or combat shooting skills. It is specifically geared toward educating students on the laws, rules, responsibilities, and potential consequences associated with carrying a concealed firearm.
Equipment Required:
Students are responsible for bringing the following items to class:
- A serviceable handgun in safe working condition
- 100 rounds of factory ammunition (appropriate caliber)
- A quality holster that covers the trigger guard and securely retains the firearm
- A cover garment (jacket, sweatshirt, vest, or similar) for classroom concealment drills
- Eye and ear protection (mandatory)
- A pistol case or range bag for safe transport
- Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or open footwear)
- Appropriate clothing suitable for classroom and outdoor range conditions
- Water and snacks to stay hydrated throughout the day
Holsters are required only for classroom concealment drills. No tactical or competition holsters are needed.
