Arts Experience at Loyalist

Course Overview: Spend an immersive day painting outdoors among the rolling hills of Northumberland in this Impressionist plein air course hosted at Haute Goat. Working directly from life, students will focus on capturing expressive movement, fleeting light and shifting atmosphere through bold brushwork, confident colour choices and simplified forms. Live demonstrations and individualized guidance will help painters respond intuitively to the landscape, emphasizing energy, mood and personal interpretation over fine detail.

The day includes a delicious farm-to-table lunch at the Screaming Goat Café and time with the goats, offering space to pause, enjoy the property, and experience the unique magic of the region.

Skill Level: Some painting knowledge is recommended.

Important Notes:

• Workshop price: $145.00. HST is not included in the price.
• This experience includes lunch and a 30-minute goat shmurgle (snuggle, cuddle, hug and hangout with the famed goats)

• A refund (less $20.00 administrative fee) will be issued if you withdraw from a class at least 14 days before the start date of the class. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued.
• If a course is cancelled by Loyalist College, registered students will be provided with a full refund. College decisions to cancel a course will be made 14 days before the class start date.

• Recommended palette (Acrylic or Oil) - Student or artist quality. Recommended brands: Tri-Art, Golden, Winsor & Newton
• Cadmium Yellow Medium

Surface

• Gessoed canvas or panels (x4)
• Sized to fit your plein air easel. Instructor generally works smaller - 8x8.”

• Various hog (or synthetic hog) bristle brushes:
• Rounds sizes #2, #4, #6
• Larger flats #4, #8, #12
• Gesso brush: 1 in.

• Palette (if not included with easel)
• Water/odorless mineral spirits and vessel
