Advanced Throwing Techniques with René Petitjean
Course Overview: Immerse yourself in an opportunity to elevate your throwing skills, the foundation of a potter’s practice. Throwing is a physical skill that requires sound technique and ergonomic awareness to be efficient, effective and body-safe. Instruction and demonstrations will encourage risk-taking, push boundaries and place a strong emphasis on focused practice. Individual goals will be supported and will help inform course content. Depending on the group, explorations may include pulling handles, making spouts, creating well-fitting lids, throwing two-piece forms and throwing large.
The primary focus of the class is on practicing and refining throwing skills rather than producing a high volume of finished work. However, participants may fire up to 10 medium-sized pieces that emerge from their practice.
Skill Level: Intermediate and advanced. Not suitable for beginners.
