Painted Floor Cloths with Margot Miller
Course Overview: Paint a canvas floor cloth that becomes a decorative, hardwearing, washable alternative to carpet. Long before modern linoleum, floor cloths brought colour, pattern and durability into everyday homes, offering a practical and creative surfaces. Working with a beautiful palette of colour, from intense, brilliant primaries to soft summer hues, you will explore texture, pattern and surface. Using a simple technique, you will design custom stencils inspired by animal footprints, fish, birds, repeating motifs and textural elements. You will also learn how to paint or print cascading flowers, capture real leaf prints, create painterly rag roses, or experiment with contemporary abstract shapes. Endlessly versatile, floor cloths make wonderful runners, placemats, pet mats and boot trays, adding charm to any space.
