Arts Experience at Loyalist

Course Overview: In this four-day, studio-based course, immerse yourself in the expressive world of Contemporary Impressionist Landscape Painting. Designed for both emerging and intermediate painters, the workshop explores the fundamentals of landscape painting — composition, value, colour, and brushwork—while also delving into advanced techniques for capturing light, atmosphere, and emotion.

Through demonstrations, guided exercises and personalized feedback, you'll learn how to translate landscapes into paintings alive with dynamic movement and vibrant colour. Discussions on materials, techniques and approaches will prepare you for both studio practice and future plein air explorations, giving you the tools to develop your own impressionist voice confidently.

• Workshop price: $395.00. HST is not included in the price.
• This course takes place at the Belleville Campus: 376 Wallbridge Loyalist Rd, Belleville, ON K8N 5B9
• Campus information, including room number, parking, directions, etc., will be provided closer to the start date.
• A refund (less $20.00 administrative fee) will be issued if you withdraw from a class at least 14 days before the start date of the class. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued.
• If a course is cancelled by Loyalist College, registered students will be provided with a full refund. College decisions to cancel a course will be made 14 days before the start date of the class.

Painting Surfaces

• Canvas paper pad or watercolour paper pad (8″×10″ or 9″×12″)
• Several small canvases or panels (optional; e.g., 8″×8″)

• Disposable palette pad
• Drawing pencils (2B and 6B; Staedtler recommended)
• Sketchbook (approx. 8″×10″)
