Maple Leaf Beading
By participating in this community building experience, you are not eligible to register for the next two community building experiences that I offer at Sunalta Heritage Hall (or Community Hub).
**********************************************
Beading is a cultural art form that holds great significance for Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island.
Spanning thousands of years, the practice of beading has been widely recognized as a means of cultural knowledge, promoting wellness, spiritual, and artistic traditions.
Originally, natural materials like bone, stone, and shell, were used.
In this FREE 4-hour community building experience, we’ll be using glass, and ceramic beads.
You will be led by Nicol Schon, a passionate, and seasoned Métis crafter, to create a truly your very own Beaded Maple Leaf — that can be worn in different ways (you decide how).
You’ll have two beading options to choose from (easier, harder). Whichever one you choose, you'll have fun getting out of your comfort zone.
Once finished, wear it with pride to show respect to Indigenous culture (beading), and our great country… important in these transformative times!
Beading kits supplied + Light refreshments will also be offered (bring your own if you have special dietary needs)
