6:11 Defense

Intro to Pistols is a 4 hour live-fire class that teaches the fundamentals of pistol shooting at the introductory level. This class is geared towards new or inexperienced pistol shooters who want to develop a solid skills foundation that they can build on in the future. This class focuses heavily on safety and beginner-friendly marksmanship challenges. This class is open to anyone 16 years old and older, but for minors, a parent or guardian must remain at the range the entire time.

In Basic Pistol, students will learn:

• The rules for safe gun handling,
• Proper stance for pistol shooting,
• How to grip the pistol,
• How to consistently aim the pistol,
• How to press the trigger without disturbing the sights,
• The importance of follow-through when shooting, and
• Drills and practice techniques to develop their skills on their own.

Course Length:

• 4 hours (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Course Prerequisites:

• None

Equipment & Gear:

Required (all available for rent or borrow)

• Safe, functional pistol (rental available at checkout). Any caliber of semi-auto or revolver is fine, though we suggest using the pistol you plan to concealed carry, or a similar one.
• At least 300 rounds of ammunition compatible with your pistol, preferably factory ammo (included with firearm rental). If you're not sure about your ammo, contact us, and we'll help you out.
• Eye & ear protection (we have spares if you need to borrow them)

• Closed-toe shoes
• Low-cut shirts are discouraged due to hot brass
• Lawn chair
• Note-taking items
• Snacks & drinks
• The range is outdoors, so check the weather prior to class and dress appropriately.

Refunds

• If we have to cancel or make significant changes to a class that prevent you from attending, we will either refund your full payment or transfer your registration to another class, your choice.
• Requests for a refund are handled on a case-by-case basis, but are rare given our costs, such as reservations and rentals. We'll accommodate your request if we can, but it's best to assume that there are no refunds.

Location

• This class takes place at a private range in Jackson, MO. The exact address of the range will be emailed to you a few days prior to the class.

Safety

• For the safety of everyone involved, 6:11 Defense reserves the right to dismiss, without refund, anyone from the class if they demonstrate, at our sole discretion, reckless behavior with a firearm or willfully ignore the directions of the instructor.
