Arts Experience at Loyalist

Course Overview: This three-day course is designed for students who own a 35mm SLR or mirrorless digital camera and want to better understand how to use it. Combining foundational instruction with daily photography outings throughout the Bancroft area, you will spend time outdoors using the unique landscape as your classroom. Each outing connects directly to what’s covered in class, giving you the opportunity to apply new concepts immediately. You will learn the fundamentals of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, composition and how they work together to control light, motion and depth. Through guided practice, you will gain confidence photographing landscapes, wildlife, action scenes and creative long exposures. By the end of the course, you will have a stronger understanding of your camera, practical experience shooting in a variety of outdoor settings and a collection of images that reflect your growing technical skills and creative eye.

• Course price: $265.00. HST is not included in the listed price.
• This course takes place at the Bancroft Campus: 195 Hastings Street North, Bancroft, ON K0L 1C0.
• Campus information, including room number, parking, directions, etc., will be provided closer to the start date.
• Participants will travel by car to a variety of nearby locations. Please ensure you can drive to and from these locations.
• A refund (less $20.00 administrative fee) will be issued if you withdraw from a class at least 14 days before the start date of the class. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued.
• If a course is cancelled by Loyalist College, registered students will be provided with a full refund. College decisions to cancel a course will be made 14 days before the course start date.

Supply List:

• 35mm SLR or mirrorless digital camera, film cameras can also be used. 
• Laptop to organize and edit photos and photo cards.
• An external hard drive is also recommended, but not required.
