Industry in Schools Regional Symposium: Central Region

Industry in Schools
Central Regional Symposium

In collaboration with our regional community colleges and industry partners, STEM East is pleased to host our series of Industry in Schools: Regional Symposiums for teachers to explore regional career opportunities. These gatherings will provide an interactive dive into careers while highlighting community college pathways for career preparation. Institute staff will work with teacher leaders to use this experience as regional context for their K-12 standards instruction, making lessons more engaging and relevant for students. Instructional conversations are designed to benefit all K-12 teachers in core content areas. If you teach any or all of these subject areas - science, mathematics, social studies, ELA - at any grade level, then this 3-day symposium is designed for you.

Goals:

  • Engage with and understand the diversity of careers within this regional industry cluster.
  • Investigate current and emerging trends & technologies within this regional industry cluster.
  • Align and integrate this regional industry cluster into grades K-12 NC course standards.
  • Develop a regional teacher leadership cohort focused on creating engaging instruction contextualized by regional industry clusters.
Institutes are exclusively for teachers who work in one of our STEM East member districts. Attendance is free as expenses are covered through district membership fees, state funds, grants, and partner contributions. The only cost to teachers is their travel to and from the institute.
  • Curriculum and materials will be created and provided that align with each career cluster and your specific grade-level and content standards
  • Teachers will receive a total education stipend of $300 for attending all three days. Partial stipends will not be provided.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all three days
  • Lodging will not be provided this year, so you are encouraged to attend the regional event that serves your district.

You are required to use your school email to register for this event.
All applications are filtered by member district email domains. If you have any issues, please email the event organizer.
