A Little Wiggle Room - Bamboo & Bondage
“Imagine being held in a pose that requires constant effort, like standing on tiptoe with the threat of a rope pulling your hair if you falter. “
Predicament bondage isn’t just about being placed in a situation where movement is severely limited. It’s also not just about being tied up or experiencing pain. Holding a precarious position brings another level of psychological and physical presence that demands one to be in tune with their mind & body.
In this class we’ll explore concepts of tying the body to bamboo and positions that will push a delicate balance of what being in rope means. We will incorporate body mobility, floorwork and precarious body positioning. Ties may include kneeling, using fingers/feet/toes, blindfolds and waist rope.
At the end of class, you’ll be able to take home your bamboo to continue practicing your skills and weave them into your scenes.
Things to know before the event:
- Bring your rope & a safety cutting tool. We will use ~3-5 30ft ropes. Please let us know ahead of time if you would like to borrow rope. Safety shears will be available for purchase for $5 dollars.
- Knowledge of a single column/bowline/larkshead is encouraged but not required.
- This class will be a partnered tie. If there are any singles, we will do our best to assist with arranging a tying pair.
This session will be led by facilitator Kim(they/she) They have been practicing shibari as a rope top & bottom since 2019. By focusing on a mixture of technique, flow & energetic connection, they find joy in making rope a conduit for learning and play. Their style is a mixture of playful, sadistic and creativity on the fly.
