Title: But They’re Shrimp!!! (Original Farm Team One Act)

SYNOPSIS An absurd comedy about Pip, a small-town freshwater shrimp, forced to make a choice when she turns 30: marry and mate like other middle-aged shrimp, or become an entrée in an eternal revolving shrimp buffet. While Pip longs for her name in lights, everyone seems to envision something else for her future.

AUDITION INFORMATION

• Date: Saturday, February 28th
• Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
• Location: Planet Ant Hall
• Callbacks: Virtual, March 1
• Preparation: Please be prepared for a cold reading (sides provided) and a very light, non-serious dance call. Folks with theater/comedic backgrounds who "move well" are encouraged.

IMPORTANT DATES

• Rehearsals: Approx. 14 rehearsals in March and April.
• Performance Run: April 10 – April 25, 2026 (3 consecutive weekends).
• Showtimes: Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 PM; Sundays at 3:00 PM.

SEEKING

• PIP (22-40, Femme, Any Race/Ethnicity): A scrawny, vulnerable, but plucky runt of the litter. She tries way too hard and is annoyingly insecure.
• CHERRY (22-40, Femme, Any Race/Ethnicity): Naturally lovable and always effortlessly confident. Cherry always has boyfriends and is Pip’s best friend.
• SQUILLIANA (35-70, Any Gender, Any Race/Ethnicity): The elder, a street-wise Vegas shrimp performer who has been around the block, but is satisfied and still optimistic.
• ROCK SHRIMP III (35-50, Any Gender, Any Race/Ethnicity): A beefy, muscley shrimp who wears a necklace and pinky rings. Parental figure to Pip, Didi’s spouse. Argumentative and loud, but ultimately means well.
• DIDI BRANCHIATA (30-50, Femme, Any Race/Ethnicity): Super expressive, dramatic, flashy, and protective. Parental figure to Pip, Rock’s spouse. Think mob wife meets Fran Drescher’s The Nanny.
• Note: Actors cast in supporting roles may play multiple small roles.
