Armed Protector Defensive Pistol Training - Level 1
Defensive Pistol Level 1 introduces responsibly armed citizens to the foundational skills required to safely and effectively use a handgun for defensive purposes. This course focuses on developing proper firearm handling, safe gun manipulation, and the core principles of defensive shooting in a structured training environment.
Throughout the course, students will be trained to assess threats and develop a responsible defensive mindset. Upon successful completion of this course you will be award a certification that qualifies to apply for an Arizona Conceal Carry Permit if so desired.
This class is designed to build confidence, reinforce safe firearm handling, and establish the foundational skills necessary for continued defensive pistol training.
Skills Covered
Participants will receive instruction and range practice in the following areas:
- Fundamentals of pistol marksmanship
- Safe loading and unloading procedures
- Drawing safely and efficiently from a holster
- Proper stance options for defensive shooting
- Malfunction identification and clearance
- Engaging targets at a variety of distances
- Multiple target engagement techniques
- Threat assessment and defensive awareness
Requirements for Class
Students must bring the following equipment:
- Medium to full-size handgun
- Ammunition — 200 rounds
- Strong-side belt holster for primary side
- No shoulder, ankle, cross-draw, small-of-the-back, or inside-the-waistband holsters permitted, Serpa holsters strongly discouraged.
- Preferably three (3) magazines
- Magazine carrier for belt
- Sturdy belt (strongly recommended)
- Eye protection
- Ear protection
- Comfortable clothing appropriate for outdoor training
