Improv 401 - Longform
Level 401 is where we tackle the most iconic and rewarding structure in longform improv: The Harold.
This is a masterclass in pattern recognition and ensemble teamwork. You are ready to move beyond "what happens next" and start creating a full dynamic format with a creative opening and a scene stealing finale.
In this intensive 9-week journey, you will sharpen your instincts to find the "Game of the Scene" faster and play it more fearlessly.
You will practice:
- Synthesizing Premises: Learn to receive, identify, and heighten ideas instantly, turning a single suggestion into a rich world of comedic possibilities.
- Mastering the Macro: Shift your perspective from the individual scene to the entire set. You’ll learn to make choices that support the architecture of the set.
- Deepening Your Inspiration: Discover how to create nuanced, surprising details from a wide range of openings and enhance your format with dynamic group games and edits.
- Elite Teamwork: Work with your teammates to combine different ideas into a dynamic , cohesive set.
You’ll emerge with a sharper comedic eye, a more sophisticated stage presence, and the confidence to lead an audience through a complex, hilarious longform set.
Prerequisite: Improv 301 or equivalent (please reach out if you're wondering if this class is for you!)
