FINDING THE GAME

FINDING THE GAME: Strong Scene Starts & Identifying the Game

oYou’ve learned to say “yes, and.” Now let’s make it funny on purpose.
nThis intermediate class is designed to give you the tools to start strong scenes, build compelling characters, and confidently find the game of the scene. You’ll learn how to recognize the unusual thing, identify patterns, and heighten them into dynamic, engaging, and hysterical moments.
tWe’ll focus on:
  • Starting scenes with clarity and momentum
  • Building characters rooted in relationship and point of view
  • Recognizing “the first unusual thing”
  • Finding the game within the game
  • Escalating patterns with confidence
  • Turning good scenes into great ones
Whether you just finished Intro or it’s been a minute and you need to knock the dust off, this class sharpens your instincts and strengthens your comedic muscle. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how scenes work and how to make them pop.

Who This Class Is For

This class is perfect for:
  • Students who have completed an Intro to Improv class
  • Performers who understand basic scene work and want more control over the funny
  • Improvisers who feel stuck in “politeness” and want to make stronger choices & give improv gifts
  • Anyone looking to enhance their scene starts, character work, and comedic instincts
If you’re ready to move from reacting in scenes to driving them, this is your next step.

Learn By Doing

This is not a lecture class.
You will learn by playing games, jumping into scenes, experimenting, failing safely, and discovering what works in real time. Every week you’ll apply concepts immediately through reps, side coaching, and collaborative exercises designed to build confidence and clarity.
Expect to laugh. Expect to stretch. Expect to leave energized.
