High School American History (Virtual Tuesday / In Person Thursday)
High School American History- $450 + $25 supply fee
American History will examine the political, social, economic, and cultural development of the United States from early Indigenous civilizations to contemporary America. This course is designed as an immersive, project-based learning experience. Students will actively participate in structured historical simulations such as a Constitutional Convention, a Secession Crisis debate, a Progressive Reform Congress, World War II, the Cold War or Supreme Court summit.
Special emphasis is placed on understanding the experiences of Indigenous nations before and after colonization, the legal and human impact of Japanese internment during World War II, and the leadership and strategies of the Civil Rights Movement. In addition, students will evaluate how constitutional principles have been applied, challenged, and expanded over time.
To support diverse learners, students may demonstrate mastery through traditional essays and document-based questions (DBQs) or through structured documentary-style video projects. All formats require thesis development, primary source integration, historical accuracy, and evidence-based reasoning.
