SUMMER CAMP: Printmaking

This camp is a one-week excursion into the wonderful world of printmaking! Get inked up with different screen-printing, block printing, and risograph techniques. Using these different printmaking methods, we will make vibrant self-portraits, experiment with layering/ combining images, and compose imaginary worlds.

Our final project will be a short collaborative zine for everyone to make and share.

WHEN: July 13-17, 10-13 year olds

WHO: 10-13 year olds

Camp runs M-F from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Campers may be dropped off after 9:30am in the morning and picked up before 3:30pm. Staff will remain on site throughout drop-offs and pick-ups. Snacks are provided, but please send your camper with a cold lunch. Lunch is between 12-1 on site.

About the Instructor 

Pedal Press co-founder Julia Murphy is a credentialed Art,English, and CTE teacher who has worked in education since 2009. Murphy has been a Peer Art Education Coach with the Butte County Office of Education, and has been the CreateCA/ ArtsNOW Prop. 28 Arts Advocate for Butte County since 2024. 
LK James is an artist based in Colusa, CA. Her creative disciplines include printmaking, publication, and ceramics. Her work is a celebration of everyday beauty, in exaltation/exploration of the material world. She has led workshops at Verge Center for the Arts, Outlet PDX, the Independent Publishing Resource Center, Oregon College of Art and Craft, among others. Her work has been featured at Salmon Bend Art Studios, the San Francisco Center for the Book, and elsewhere. She is the author/illustrator of the children’s picture book "The Full House and The Empty House” (Chicago Review Press).
Community Standards
In order to create a safe and encouraging environment for creativity, we ask that all attendees comply with Verge’s non-discrimination policy which prohibits unlawful discrimination and harassment based on race, color, gender, gender identity/expression, age, physical or mental disability, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or any other consideration made unlawful by the state or local laws. We also ask that everyone contribute positively to a safe and comfortable environment for all attendees. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who does not abide by our community standards stated above.

Cancellation and Refunds Policy

Verge Center for the Arts reserves the right to cancel classes, to change instructors, and to make other changes that may become necessary to ensure a quality experience for participants. In the event that a class is canceled, we will contact all registrants and offer the option of transferring to another available session, or receiving a full refund.

If a participant wishes to withdraw from a class, they must do so in writing at least seven days prior to the first class meeting to receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee. Withdrawals occurring within seven days prior to the first class meeting will receive a refund of 50% of the total class fee or may transfer to a class of equal or lesser value. Participants are only eligible for one transfer per registration and must get it approved by Verge staff. No refunds or transfers are given to withdrawals that occur 24 hours or less before the class begins. Membership fees are non-refundable. Please note we are unable to issue cash refunds.
