Why a program to establish a daily meditation practice in an acting for the supernaturally shy school?

Most of us are led by our emotions. We range between :

Feeling sharply reactive: experiencing waves of intense sensations running through the body which seem impossible to react to..
and
Experiencing a background feeling: a broader, wide feeling that may not impact reactivity in the moment but guides us over a lifetime. 

In acting,the first one looks like an actor who may at times be intensely emotional and sometimes flat and disconnected. They have a hit or miss experience depending on their day and their mood.

The second one, may not even recognize emotion playing out in the background. The feeling is so general and we’re so accustomed to it, it feels like - this is my personality. Perhaps - I'm inhibited. I’ve always been like this. I have to change my personality’. 

However we experience it, our innate, deeply intelligent creativity is not accessed to the fullest potential because rather than opening up to our emotions and allowing them to feed us, our emotions are in charge and we feed them. We feed them with our steady stream of thoughts, consciously or unconsciously.

In this program we'll be discussing the importance of working with the mind for freedom of self expression, and investigating the age-old practice of meditation for mental health.

In our first meeting we will look at the basics of posture and how even posture relates to training in acting.
We will look at using a point of focus, and the point for focusing :)
And, discuss the gradual progression of development and how that is reflected in our work of acting.

Week 2 to 6 discussions will focus on challenges that arise for us in the process of establishing a regular practice of meditation in our lives, including working with a rapid mind, working with boredom or falling asleep, guided meditations, are they beneficial , etc etc..
