MS Humanities—The Ancient World
MS Humanities—The Ancient World
This is a year-long integrated humanities course introducing middle school students to the ancient civilizations of the Near East with particular emphasis on Greece and Rome. Students will read and listen to a narrative history spine, select works of historical fiction, and retellings of myths and tales which stir the imagination and bring these cultures to life through stories. Weekly work will include keeping a Book of Centuries, assigned reading, written narrations, and participation in class narrations and discussions. Some of the work will be completed in class together, but students should expect to have 30 minutes of daily homework. Students will have two in-class exams at the end of each semester.
The books for this class have been selected with 7th and 8th graders in mind, but advanced 6th graders, or interested 9th graders may also enroll with the teacher’s permission.
The course fee is $350. An early bird discount of $25 will be applied if registration is completed by May 31. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required in order to complete your registration. Instructions for submitting that payment will be emailed to you after you submit your registration. The balance of the course fee is due by August 13, unless a payment plan has been arranged with the teacher. This class must meet the minimum enrollment by May 31st.
