Hydraulic Press
The hydraulic press is an easy-to-use machine that simplifies jewelry-making. It can be used to cut discs, form metal, create hollow forms, produce quickly repeatable shapes, add textures and patterns, and even shape cuffs. Although a hydraulic press is not typically found in most home studios, it is commonly available in shared or professional metal workshops.
This workshop will introduce you to the press and how you can incorporate is use into your jewelry designs.
Techniques:
• Hydraulic press safety.
• Hydraulic press accessories
• Silhouette dies for hollow forms
• Impression dies for forming shapes
• Using the press with a disc cutter
• Creating texture and pattern with the press
• Making multiples of the same sheet metal shapes with pancake dies
You will leave the class with samples to incorporate into futures projects.
